Root Access
To Your Network.
FR05T, UltimateSniff, and the all-new Ether Mod give you total control over your connection. VPN tunneling, real-traffic packet emulation, traffic intelligence, and a full network toolbox. Built for gamers who refuse to fly blind.
Shape Your Live Connection
Ether Mod shapes your machine's real network connection the way a bad link would. Latency, jitter, loss, corruption, bandwidth caps, and more, on your real adapter and real traffic. No virtual machine, no second computer, and not WinDivert based: it runs on its own lightweight network filter driver.
MTU
Emulate a link with a smaller maximum packet size. Clamp rewrites the TCP handshake, Fragment splits oversized IPv4 packets, Drop refuses them with or without an ICMP reply. Presets for PPPoE, GRE, WireGuard, and IPv6 minimum.
Latency
Hold each packet and release it later. Per-packet spread, Dual random delay between From and To for jitter with correlation control, Fixed lag spikes that decay back, batch release for tiny delays, and a safety cap on queued packets.
Packet Loss
Random, Fixed 1-in-N, Correlated, Gilbert, Gilbert-Elliott, 4-state Markov, Measured from a capture, Pattern bitmask, Link flap, Ramp, and scripted Timeline. Sequential loss control plus a Measured readout of what actually happened.
Reordering
Pull a packet out, let a few overtake it, reinsert it. Chance sets how often, Gap sets how many pass first, measured in real time from the live packet rate so the threshold where TCP assumes loss is reproduced accurately.
Corruption
Four independent controls: how often, what the damage looks like, where it lands, and what happens after. Bit flips, bursts, stuck bits, truncate, pad, swap, reverse. Target payload, transport header, IP header, or a byte range. Checksum left broken, recomputed, or corrupted alone.
Transfer Rate
Cap throughput with a token bucket the way a real link behaves. Separate download and upload ceilings, burst allowance, and a queue that lets you watch latency climb before anything drops, the signature of a saturated uplink.
Port Blocking
Drop all traffic to or from listed ports. Prefix T for TCP only, U for UDP only, no prefix for both. Ranges with a hyphen. Break one service cleanly instead of one peer.
Disconnect
A hard cut. No IP traffic moves in the chosen direction. Runs last so it swallows anything Latency or Transfer Rate queues still hold. Low-level frames still pass, so the adapter stays up and Windows does not fail over.
Keep Alive
Keeps peer-to-peer and game sessions alive while other modules hold or drop traffic. Seven methods including peer packet replay, TCP keepalive, zero-length UDP, STUN binding, RTP marker, and Auto. A session can survive a full Disconnect blackout.
Tap Survival
Press Stop and emulation keeps running for a chosen delay before the driver is released. Start again inside that window and nothing was ever torn down. Rapid toggling stays seamless.
Auto on/off cycle
Run for an ON time, pause for an OFF time, repeat. Leave a rough patch flapping in the background instead of toggling by hand.
Live telemetry
Real-time throughput, combined drop rate, latency and queue delay, held-packet counts, and a stacked per-module activity graph. Each module reports what it actually measured.
External hardware
Drive a real emulator box, any Linux machine with two wired ports, inline between your PC and router. Settings translate to the Linux traffic shaper over SSH. Raspberry Pi 4 and 5 supported.
Precise filtering
Affect the whole adapter or narrow every module to one address, port, protocol, or range so only that peer or service feels the impairment.
Rate presets and hotkey
Save named bandwidth presets with your profile and bind a global hotkey to start and stop without switching windows.
Two Drivers, Two Layers
FR05T's emulator and Ether Mod hook the Windows network stack at different depths. Every practical difference between them comes from that one fact.
WinDivert callout, sees IP packets
Below the IP stack, sees raw Ethernet frames
A Windows Filtering Platform callout driver. It sits inside the TCP/IP stack and works on IP packets. That position gives it something a frame-level driver never has: awareness of TCP connections, socket operations, and which process owns a flow. Clean filter syntax, easy to target a single game or peer.
An NDIS filter driver installed below every protocol driver and just above the network interface. It works on complete Ethernet frames before the IP stack ever sees them. That depth is what lets it behave like a real bad link rather than a packet editor.
| FR05T WinDivert / L3 | Ether Mod NDIS / L2 | |
|---|---|---|
| Unit of interception | IP packet, no Ethernet header | Full Ethernet frame, header and payload |
| Hook mechanism | WFP callout at defined stack layers | NDIS filter between protocol and miniport |
| Non-IP traffic (ARP, etc.) | Not seen; filters are IP/TCP/UDP field tests | Sees every frame; passes non-IP through untouched |
| Built-in rate limiting | None; queue settings manage buffering, not throughput | Native; it holds real frames, so it can meter them |
| Adapter stays up during blackout | Not applicable; only IP is touched | Yes; L2 control frames keep flowing, no Windows failover |
| Shared / bridged / ICS links | Awkward; the forward layer does not play well with NAT | Natural; they are just frames crossing the adapter |
| Re-injection | Priority re-queue with automatic TTL handling | Frame re-injected in its original direction |
| Connection and socket events | Yes; flow and socket lifecycle, process ownership | No; purely frame level |
| Best at | Connection-aware inspection and packet editing on the local host | Faithfully reproducing a degraded link: rate, queuing, survival |
Real bandwidth shaping
WinDivert has no rate control; its queue parameters govern buffering, not throughput, so throttling means re-implementing a queue at Layer 3. Ether Mod already holds real frames at Layer 2, so metering them reproduces the queue-then-drop behavior of a saturated link naturally.
The link stays up
Because FR05T's driver only sees IP, it never touches ARP or other Layer 2 control traffic. Ether Mod sees those frames and deliberately passes them through, so even a total IP blackout never drops the adapter or triggers a Windows failover.
Real topologies
A PC feeding a console over ICS or a bridged link is awkward inside the IP stack. At Layer 2 those connections are simply frames on the adapter, so Ether Mod shapes them correctly with no special handling.
FR05T filters packets inside the IP stack. Ether Mod emulates a link beneath it. For reproducing a bad network faithfully, rate, queuing, non-IP survival, forwarded traffic, the deeper hook wins. For connection-aware and process-aware packet work on the local host, FR05T's WinDivert engine is the simpler and more featureful choice. They are built for different jobs, which is why an FR05T subscription includes both.
